We’re deeply saddened to share that we fell short of funds for the last individual who was executed. Because of this, the State claimed his body afterward. His mother had to wait more than a week and a half before the prison buried her son. The small service—attended only by his mama and Miss Linda—was held in a back room no bigger than a closet, for “security reasons.” Afterward, they were not allowed to walk out to the gravesite until he had already been placed in the ground and buried.

This is exactly why the Texas Death Row Angels exist. No mother should ever have to experience something like this.
